Denzel Washington and director Antoine Fuqua are teaming up once more for an untitled Netflix movie centered on the legendary Carthaginian general Hannibal.

The film, scripted by John Logan, will delve into the historical figure’s life, highlighting his renowned military prowess and strategic brilliance during the Second Punic War against the Roman Republic. Hannibal, famously known for his use of war elephants, led Carthaginian forces in victorious battles against Rome, ultimately challenging their dominance for over a decade.

According to Variety, Washington will also serve as a producer alongside Erik Olsen, Adam Goldworm, and Fuqua through Hill District Media’s Netflix deal.

The impending Netflix saga adds to Washington’s plate of historical epics, joining the upcoming sequel to Gladiator. As the SAG-AFTRA strike concludes, production gears up for Washington’s return to Ridley Scott’s Gladiator 2, slated for release in November 2024.

This collaboration marks a reunion between Washington and Fuqua after their successful ventures in films like Training Day and the Equalizer series.
