Disney+ Reveals ‘Tempest’ Spy Thriller and ‘Code Geass’ Anime Release

Disney+ is set to thrill audiences with its upcoming Korean spy drama Tempest, slated for a 2025 release. The platform also announced that the eagerly awaited anime Code Geass Rozé of the Recapture will debut on June 21.

Tempest, a riveting spy thriller, will be available globally on Disney+ and on Hulu in the United States. Set in modern-day Korea, the series follows Munju, a distinguished diplomat and former U.S. ambassador, and Sanho, an international special agent. They join forces to unravel the mystery behind a catastrophic attack that threatens Korea’s stability.

The series stars A-listers Gianna Jun, also known as Jun Ji-hyun, famed for Kingdom, My Love from the Star, and Legend of the Blue Sea, as Seo Munju. Gang Dong-won, known for Broker and Peninsula, plays Sanho and serves as an executive producer on the show.

Kim Heewon, celebrated for his work on Queen of Tears, Little Women, and Vincenzo, directs Tempest. He collaborates with Korea’s leading martial arts director Heo Myunghaeng of The Outlaws 4. Chung Seokyung, who co-wrote Decision to Leave with Park Chan-wook, brings his expertise to the script.

Meanwhile, Code Geass Rozé of the Recapture continues the beloved anime saga. Set four years after the last installment, it follows mercenaries Ash and Rozé as they battle to free Japan from Britannia’s oppressive regime. Noboru Kimura writes the series, with Yoshimitsu Ohashi directing.

Disney+ aims to captivate global audiences with these exciting new releases. As Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, notes, “This exciting new chapter about one of the world’s best-known literary characters will delight our global customers with its captivating storytelling.”
