Mariana Treviño Joins Owen Wilson in Apple TV Golf Comedy Series

Mariana Treviño, known for Club de Cuervos and A Man Called Otto, will star alongside Owen Wilson in Apple TV’s new untitled golf comedy series. The series, from Jason Keller, also features Marc Maron and Peter Dager.

The comedy centers on Pryce Cahill, played by Wilson, a former pro golfer whose career crashed 20 years ago. After losing his job at a sporting goods store and his wife leaving him, Pryce bets everything on a troubled 17-year-old golf prodigy, portrayed by Dager. Treviño will play Elena, the mother of the young golf phenom.

Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, known for Fleishman Is in Trouble and Little Miss Sunshine, will direct the series. The impressive executive producer lineup includes Ben Silverman (The Office), Howard T. Owens, Rodney Ferrell, Guymon Casady (Ripley), Lee Eisenberg, Natalie Sandy, Chris Moynihan, Keller, and Wilson. Bill Callahan also joins as an executive producer.

Treviño is set to reprise her role from the hit musical Mentiras in an upcoming mini-series. She recently appeared in Marc Forster’s A Man Called Otto with Tom Hanks and starred in Overboard alongside Eugenio Derbez and Anna Faris.

Her performance in Polvo earned her an Ariel nomination. Treviño also shone in Manolo Caro’s Perfect Strangers and had key roles in Netflix’s Cecilia, Club de Cuervos, La Casa de las Flores, and Narcos: Mexico.
