The Bear Star Jeremy Allen White Spills On How He ‘Really Embarrassed’ Himself Training With Chefs

Jeremy Allen White, star of The Bear, recently shared a cringe-worthy experience from his training with top chefs in Copenhagen while preparing for the third season of the show. Appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, White recounted the grueling physical training that left him feeling utterly humiliated.

“I really embarrassed myself in front of these incredible chefs and maniac masochists,” White confessed. The actor, known for his role as chef Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, detailed how these chefs “crushed” him during their workouts. “They’re a little crazy,” he added, emphasizing the intensity of his time spent with them.

The training session stemmed from a suggestion by the show’s culinary producer, Courtney Storer. White initially thought he would just be learning kitchen skills, but Storer had other plans. “She was like, ‘No, he’d like to physically train with you,'” White explained. What followed was a circuit training session that tested his endurance to the limit.

White, who considers himself fairly fit, grossly underestimated the chefs. “These guys, they’re like 45, 50, and they look fit, but not in crazy shape,” he said. Confident in his fitness, White assumed he could handle the workout. “I was like, ‘I feel like I’ve got this,’ like it’s going to be fine.”

However, reality hit hard. The group embarked on a 30-minute circuit involving an assault bike, bench presses, burpees, and dips. “We did 10 rounds of this,” White recalled. “After the fifth round, I had to excuse myself to go throw up, and I did.”

Fans on Twitter found the story both amusing and relatable. User @ChefLife123 tweeted, “Respect to Jeremy Allen White for keeping it real! Chefs are no joke in the gym.” Another fan, @TVAddict, added, “Hearing Jeremy’s story makes me even more excited for The Bear Season 3!”

Despite the physical challenge, White’s dedication to embodying his character is evident. His commitment to authenticity, even at the cost of some embarrassment, shows his passion for the role and the series.

As The Bear Season 3 approaches, White’s experience highlights the lengths he’s willing to go to bring Carmy’s character to life. This dedication, combined with his raw talent, promises another compelling season for fans of the show. Stay tuned for more culinary drama and, hopefully, fewer embarrassing workouts.
